Garifuna Days The Annual Festival is held on April 12th and is not one to miss. It is full of festivities including dancing, and singing of old chants and songs in their native Garifuna language. The oldest settlement on Roatan, the Garifuna people arrived to Punta Gorda in 1797 as they fled from slavery from Spanish and British rule. Today, you’ll find a picturesque, sleepy seaside village, whose residents still cherish the old ways and are happy to spend a few minutes sharing their stories with visitors. Business2Business Similar to where you are, small business has taken a considerable hit with many businesses shutting down, some permanently, with the COVID-19 pandemic. The difference to a great degree is that ‘small’ is pretty much the only business we have here. That being said, We, here at RE/MAX, are attempting to provide a ‘Business2Business ‘ benefit and support during these very difficult times. Basically, businesses helping each other. Few industries on the island obtain as many consumer questions about where to Go, Stay, Do or Eat, than real estate people. I believe we can utilize this aspect of our industry to help promote individual businesses cooperatively.
