Iconic Roatan Restaurant re-opens

Larry SchlesserIsland News

When I first arrived here on the island in 1999 there was a great little spot to eat in French Harbor called the ‘French Harbor Yacht Club’. It was easy to get to, had plenty of parking and served very good food. Back then it was a mainstay for both islanders and foreigners alike. A series of events, including the passing of the owner, kept it closed for years.

Last night was the ‘soft’ (by invitation only’), re-opening of ‘Jack’s Harborview Grill’. A long term resident and well liked restauranteur, Jack Mitchell, prepared some great taste treats for us like lobster, lion fish, chicken and beef tenderloin all presented perfectly.

Jack’s hours  are from 7:00am – 10:00pm everyday. With live acoustic guitar entertaining on Thursday and Saturday evenings.

Thursdays is Italian fare and a sweet deal. $45 to feed four; salad, choice of 8″ square pan of lasagna or spaghetti and a 16″ pizza. Comes to $11.25 per person plus beverage. Saturdays will be an all you care to eat buffet for $25. Lunch Specials daily.

Check it out the next time you are out and about or on the island.
