The Bay Islands and Safety 
RE/MAX-Roatan & Utila -Moving to another country can be a scary process. I know. I have done it. One of the main concerns I hear from people who are considering investing or moving to the Bay Islands is about personal safety.

A couple of years ago, I shared a detailed report ranking various countries in regard to murder rate. The Bay Islands was lower than most other Central American and Caribbean locations. Lower than ALL the more prominent places that you may be considering.

Then, last month a new article involving safety attracted my attention. The article ranked the most dangerous countries in the world. Syria, of course, was number one, but as I went down the list, what really got my attention was the fact that the United States was ranked as number fifty and HONDURAS was fifty-eight.

Yes, statistically, the United States is more dangerous than Honduras. Of course, if you break things down based on where you live in North America that may not be the case. Also, the same holds true for the Bay Islands versus the rest of the country here as well.

Bottom line: Bad things can happen anywhere. However, statistically, the Bay Islands are now safer than the United States.

-HTTPS- Are you searching the web safely? You can on our sites! 
As most are aware from worldwide news there have been many a web site that have been hacked whereas the owner had to pay a ransom in order to get their sites back in their control. At times the email data bases are compromised and the ransomware or virus can be spread.

There are two things I would like to mention here. First your email addresses are not kept in a database on our site. They are on a site non-related to my real estate sites. (very secure a company called MadMimi).

Next, be careful where you ’surf”. It is wise to visit sites that have domain addresses that start with HTTPS not just HTTP. You may have noticed that your credit card companies or banks all use the HTTPS (note the ’S’ at the end). These sites are normally far more secure. In my “Chrome” browser it is noted right before the domain or web address with a Green Lock and the word “Secure”.

The sites we have (roatan-realestate.com roatan-realtor.com & roatanbayisland.com ) are all HTTPS sites. Be careful where you browse please.
