Roatan & Utila – Upcoming HGTV Shows
Mark your calendars and catch a couple of upcoming shows featuring the Bay Islands on HGTV. These programs are scheduled for the following dates and times: February 26th and 27th (9 pm, 8 Central & 12 am, 11 Central – same show) and March 12th & 13th, (10 pm, 9 Central and 1 am, 12 Central – again the same show on those two dates). First show is in two days!

Utila Dream

Utila, so close, but yet, so far.

For those who have traveled to Roatan, you may have noticed the island of Utila in the distant western horizon and wondered what it is like. For many years Utila was difficult to get to and taking a small plane or ferry to LaCeiba first and then to Utila consisted of an entire travel day. With direct ferry service on the Utila Dream that is no longer the case. This service is available on Friday, Saturday, Sunday. The Utila Dream will take passengers to Utila in a little over an hour. The times the Utila Dream runs are as follows: 1:00 PM from Roatan, from Utila 10:45 AM back to Roatan. For those leaving Sunday and looking for a new adventure, CM Airlines flies to Utila at 8:00 AM Saturday morning and returns to Roatan that same afternoon.

– Medicine for Roatan
Pamela Susie Ebanks, (one of our RE/MAX Team, psebanks17@gmail.com), is a founding member and current president of the Medicines for Roatan (no.2007000179), an Honduran pharmaceutical nonprofit founded in 2006. Medicines for Roatan’s mission is to help supplement the systematic shortage of quality medicines at the Roatan Public Hospital. In 2015 the Roatan Public hospital had approximately 55,000 patient visits, and it is the only hospital on the Island with 24 hours emergency room surgeons.

Since 2007 MFR has donated approximately $75,000 in medical treatments purchased directly from the International Drug Access as well as a few local emergency purchases for the hospital. Additionally, in 2015 we added Sagra Sangre-a financial assistance program to aid indigent patients who cannot afford lifesaving blood needed during surgeries and other emergency transfusions. Need a Residency for Residency for You Long-term Stay or Relocation-
Countries have rules and regulations regarding long-term stays and relocation, and Honduras is a very friendly country for visiting. After 90 days, visitors can either obtain a one-time 30-day extension or they need to leave this country for a minimum of 72 hours. At RE/MAX, we now have a new team member who is an attorney that specializes in residency for foreigners. A residency traditionally costs $2,500 per person or $3,500 for a couple. Buying land is a great alternative when prices are low. Buyers have no concerns or worries about maintenance, and they are able to purchase land for what a nice car typically costs.
