-Roatan, Bay Islands/Honduras reading
Are you a reader? If you are there are many books about Roatan, the Bay Islands and Honduras on the market. Besides the Tour Books, Information and Travel books, Lonely Plant, etc, there really is a great selection of novels by people who live here or have lived here. I have not read all of these but I have read a few and enjoyed them. It is fun to read about where you are living or in many of your cases where you may want to live. The first three are new and some of these people I know personally, so if you are a reader it would be nice to have you pick a couple of these up and support the local economy………….

-Real Estate – overview/editorial- My wife Nancy and I arrived on Roatan in 1999. Back then the paved roads were far fewer, we did not have cell phones, roads, medical care and even grocery selection were are far less than they are now. No shopping mall, no golf course, no American, Delta or United Airlines. Back then we considered the price points for property to be an extreme bargain. At this point in time property is at, and even in many instances below, those price points. Back then you could buy a small home site for $29,000 to $49,000 dollars U.S. near the water and/or with a water view. Land is cheap and residential supply is running short. Want to build a spec home to resell? The market could use some.
Home sites starting at $29K to $49K close to the golf course and a short walk to the golf course,

Would rather search for properties for yourself? You put in the price, locations, the number of rooms. You determine the searches. Save the search, rank the properties based on your personal favorites . http://link.flexmls.com/oq9ggfooh53,2
Maybe you would rather have the search ability but want it on a smart phone or IPad?
We have it right here-
Half the real estate professionals on the island are Buyers and have been for a year. We have buyers scooping up great deals here every week. Opportunity knocks, are you answering the door? If you are not you should be! Honduras is a great country. Snorkel, dive, beachcomb, fish, white water raft, explore the Mayan ruins and go to a large fresh water lake on the mainland where the Bass average 5 lbs. (no winter hibernation here folks).
-Date night?
Nightlife on the island is fairly laid back. There is no doubt there are a large selection of places to visit, local music venues, bars and restaurants but if you are looking for a relaxing evening with your ‘date’ you may want to try the ‘Movie Night’ at the Pineapple Grill at Clarion/Pineapple Villas, French Harbor. They have some great, very recent released movies, in extremely comfortable chairs. Whether it be a weekly event with your ‘date’ or a special occasion it is a nice thing to do for an evening. Mother’s Day is a good reason, don’t you think? It starts at 7 am. Buy something off the menu and kick back and have some great food while you watch a movie with your ‘date’! The Movie is FREE. (remember? free is goodJ ). Check it out this week!

– A visit to the Zoo…………
If you have ever visited a zoo in Central America, you may be hesitant to try again. Joya Grande is different. This is apparent as soon as you pull into the entrance of the park. The vast open space is the first thing that captures the eye. It is on over 200 acres of rolling hills and green grassy areas with mountains in the distance. Beautiful…………………………….. http://www.honduras.com/joya-grande-zoo-in-honduras/
If you are on the island you can visit a ‘mini’ version at Frenchie’s 44 in French Cay. The owners there have been approved by the Honduran government as a location for rescue animals and has an nice selection of animals including a couple of Jaguar cubs.
Happy Mothers Day to all you mothers out there. We hope you have a great Day!
Best to all.
