-A Visit- Is it Safe? -
I know some of you on this list are wondering “Is it Safe?” there on the island. The simple answer is yes. For we that live here it almost seems silly in that nothing is different than what it was on the island before the “political crisis”. The world as you know is a complicated situation. At times “politics” play a big part and the tear between “right” and “left”. By that I mean in every country people often do not know what to think, are too busy to research it themselves but only have the opinion of whatever their “party” says. Unfortunately when that happens people often wake up one morning and find themselves in place the do not wish to be. It is often difficult to sort out the fact from fiction, the good from bad and certainly at times the “right” from the “left” let alone the “right” from the “wrong”.

The fact of the matter is here very little ha changed. Besides a few demonstrations in Tegucigulpa, the nations capital and some curfews on the mainland, life on the island is the same as it always has been. Cruise ship season winding up, gorgeous atmosphere, International flights landing when they are supposed to and basically you would wonder what all the chatter is about. I said at the beginning that to us it seems almost silly and to me that is true. It would be like someone in the U.S. not going on vacation in Florida because there were the G-20 demonstrations in Pittsburg.

The below is an article written by Liz Riggs, of Tortuga Tigital………….. It gives a nice overview regarding life on the island right now based on real people who have pretty much just been here. After you finish this letter you may wish to click on the below links………………….

Buyers Market- Details below the Slide Show of Featured Hot Deals

There is no doubt that markets in many places in much of the world the real estate industry would label as “Buyer Markets”. Roatan to a great degree is no different in that there no doubt are some of the best deals available for many years. Many Sellers are in a “buy and hold” pattern, meaning they have their properties for sale but are holding fast to the price points, whereas other Sellers are far more motivated. For years developers have been hard liners in regard to their price points. More and more are developing programs that allow more flexible offers or programs for financing which in many instances are not happening very easily in the U.S. the quality is just as great as it always been. Infinity Bay now has a 5.5% interest rate program on purchases with 50% down and Keyhole Bay is saying “bring me a contract” –

For those who are not familiar you really should visit the links above. Keyhole Bay is a top of the line quality operation a short walk from West Bay Beach that is the perfect place for a retirement or second home situation. It has the lowest price per square foot of the top end projects and has historically had a great reputation for delivering some of the most beautiful and well built units on the island.
